Grilled vinegared mackerel roll sushi

Aomori vinegared mackerel

Gari (pickled sushi ginger)

Cooked rice
Grain vinegar

  1. Heat the rice and mix it with the grain vinegar, sugar, and salt to make sushi rice.
  2. Lay out a sheet of plastic wrap. Place the vinegared mackerel on the plastic wrap, skin side down.
  3. Cover the mackerel with ginger.
  4. Arrange the sushi rice on top of the ginger in a cylindrical shape.
  5. Wrap the sushi roll in the plastic wrap, twisting the ends like a candy wrapper, and let it sit until the flavors mix.
  6. Unwrap the sushi roll, cut it into bite-sized slices, and grill the slices with a burner.
